When Does 2018 Daylight Saving Time End in United States?

Daylight Saving Time in the United States is ending soon, and that means people all across America will be turning their clocks back an hour — and enjoying that extra hour of sleep! While many of the countries regions observe the same time change, there can be some differences here and there especially when it comes to the major cities. This is largely attributed to the multiple time zones used across the nation.

What is Daylight Saving?

Believe it or not, one of our founding fathers — Benjamin Franklin — was a huge proponent of the Daylight Saving Time change. Of course, that was well before it was called such. He often spoke of the idea of turning back the clocks to conserve energy and resources, effectively giving us more sunlight for work, play and enjoyment.

It wasn't until much later, however, that the country began observing the practice. World War I was the catalyst, actually, and the country began using the time change as a means to deal with rising resource costs, especially fuel.

Today, the practice is hotly debated. Some claim that it offers many benefits, like lower energy and resource consumption, lower accident rates, and even higher productivity. Dissenting arguments claim that it's bad for general health, primarily because of the lack of sleep you get after the push forward. Either way, we still observe the practice today, and it's in effect right now. That will soon change, once again.
